This excludes:

participants identified independently of the HSC but because they have a condition that was diagnosed by the HSC (e.g. patients with cancer which may have been diagnosed by the HSC but who are identified from a cancer charity’s contact list to be participants in a research project that is otherwise being conducted independently of the HSC).
